A pregnancy or infant loss at any gestational age can be an emotionally devastating experience. It is you who is experiencing the loss and your experience is unique. No one has a right to tell you how you should react.
Pregnancy loss can happen at any gestational age in the course of a pregnancy. First trimester losses are generally referred to as miscarriages. Second-trimester losses may be referred to as a miscarriage by some. Third-trimester losses – at a gestational age when the baby would live – is considered a stillbirth.
